    One of the reasons that scammers are so successful is that many people simply do not know about the various types of scams, the red flags to be on the lookout for, and what actions they can take if they do fall victim. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a government agency that ensures financial companies treat you fairly, has a great resource center where you can arm yourself with knowledge: www.consumerfinance.gov/consumer-tools/fraud
